Simple Pleasure of the Day: It feels like autumn

What Mandy Thinks: "Simple Pleasure of the Day" post
Christmas seems to be approaching earlier and earlier over the past few years (music in the stores and people getting trees already? seriously?!), AND IT'S NOT EVEN DECEMBER YET.  Despite most of the population gearing up for winter holidays, I consider the month of November as the prime of autumn.  I light autumn themed candles and break out the fake colorful leaves for decoration while daydreaming of harvest festivals and corn mazes.  December 1st is the day I finally accept the merriment of Christmas, so until then I am in autumn mode.

This morning's walk to work has been littered with leaves of various colors for the past few weeks at least, but today's SPOTD is the overwhelming feeling of autumn.

What Mandy Thinks: Image of a Palo Alto street in the fall: "Palo Alto in November is stupidly beautiful."
Palo Alto in November is stupidly beautiful.
Autumn is arguably the best season of them all for various reasons:

- Two major holidays fall (no pun intended) during this season: Halloween and Thanksgiving.  Tons of candy and tons of food?  Yes please!

- Nature is at its most beautifulness.  Trees changing their leaves and setting them free against the ground is one of my favorite things.

- The temperatures are not so bad.  Growing up in several states throughout my life, most places I've been have had weather in the 60's and 70's as highs throughout the season.  I get cold easily and absolutely love the heat, so this middle ground of temperatures is just right.

There's only a few more days left of what I consider autumn, so let's all enjoy as much of the season as we can with the time we have left.  These leaves will fall and wash away soon, and then I'm going to have to wait a whole YEAR for this glorious season to come upon us once again.
