My entire day was eaten up by a drive from the Bay Area to the L.A. area for an early Thanksgiving celebration with my dad's side of the family. While my drive was nothing special (except the standing tire in the middle of the road that I swerved to avoid... that was special), and road trips in general are normally pleasurable, my SPOTD is my favorite sound in the world: the sound of rain hitting a car windshield. I love rain but especially the pitter-patter of rain on glass. I'm just weird like that.
Rain while driving can be treacherous if you're not careful, but it's the best kind of weather to drive in and here is why:
- Obviously the sound of rain is pleasing but it is also calming. Driving in silence stresses me out, and sometimes I get bored of music or radio shows, but I could drive through rain for hours.
- Depending on the amount of rain, your car is getting cleaned while it's moving! Sure most of the time rain just mixes with the dirt on your car, but during rainy seasons I do not wash my car as much as other rainless seasons. Mother Nature's just nice like that sometimes.
- Silence is in my opinion the worst sound ever (though technically "silence" to me is ringing in my ears when there is no sound), so any steady soothing sound relieves the stupid silence panic I have.
