Simple Pleasure of the Day: Birthday traditions

What Mandy Thinks: "Simple Pleasure of the Day" post
IT'S MY BIRTHDAY, b*tches!  My SPOTD for this glorious day of new years for my age and the rest of the planet is my collection of birthday traditions.

They are as follows:

What Mandy Thinks: Image of a birthday button: "My birthday button that I promptly forgot to wear.""
My birthday button I promptly forgot to wear.
- Wake up at exactly 8:48am (the time I was born) to call my parents who sing the Happy Birthday song to me.  When I lived with them they would just wake me up with the birthday song.

- Open presents if applicable.  I'm not a present whore so if I even get anything I'm pleasantly surprised.  Most of my celebrating nowadays doesn't require presents anyway so if you want to spread the love in a monitory item(s) or a hug or a "Happy Birthday!" post on my social media accounts, go right ahead.

- Accept birthday phone calls for other random family members.  My grandma always remembers, the rest mostly don't because of the crazy holiday-ness going on haha.

- Some sort or cake or desert is stabbed with a lit candle as I attempt a wish and blow out.  Some years I get too frazzled to what I want to wish for and take too long so I just blow it out wish-less.  Others are specific wishes that I know would never come true but wish for anyway.

- Watch the ball drop and reminisce at how when I was a tiny person who didn't know better, I thought the fireworks were for me.  I have obviously grown out of this phase.

Happy New Year in advance!  Let it be a happier one since it wasn't supposed to exist according to the Mayan calendar wacko's, woo!
