Guess who knocked out a thousand words of editing and creating scenes in one of my hope-to-be novels after a slight dry spell? THIS GAL! This SPOTD of getting a good chunk of writing done is courtesy of some writing motivation and inspiration to include more drama (the "make the scene more thrilling without any real thrill" way) and tightening up a conversation that was going nowhere.
Writing dry spells suck, but once you find your way out of it, it's good to:
- NOT STOP. Distractions kill the mojo. Just keep going until it doesn't make sense and then keep going.
- Remember to look at the clock every once in a while. Time speeds up when you're speeding up the words out of your brain onto a page.
- Not over-think what's going on. Accept the fact that you're in the mojo of awesome writing and let the words flow. My over-thinking sneaks up on me when I'm editing a scene that's just not perfect. There were tons of new paragraphs I let spill out of my brain today with no dam of over-thought for at least a few hours and it was EXCELLENT. Sure I'll over-think it later when I'm not mojo'd, but at least for now I got something out and I'm proud of it.
