I think the show Scrubs coined the phrase (or correct me if I'm wrong) "brinner" as having breakfast foods for dinner. And oh is brinner magnificent. My grocery store insurgence for cereals, waffles, and Pop-Tarts (I can feel my love handles growing just by typing this) has me eating brinners several times over the past week. Past of me is tired of my simplistic burrito diet, the other part REALLY missed Captain Crunch and his heavenly berries. Brinner is my SPOTD.
Besides the three-mentioned brinner options, here's a few brinners I had as a kid when my parents were serious with breakfast making (always) but lazy with the dinner prep (often):
- Pancakes. SO MANY chocolate chip pancake brinners were had. It's a giant fluffy cookie from the freezer to the microwave to BRINNER.
- French toast. My mother's recipe is apparently amazing, but I always disliked all french toasts of any kind (crunchy crust and smooshy bread AHH the texture grossed me out). If brinner was involved, leftover french toast was much more tolerable texture-wise depeinding on the length in the microwave.
- Toaster pastries. Break out the tiny icing packets and a slightly frozen toaster pastry on a hot summer evening and it's a one-way ticket to brinner COLD style.
