Being the minority white girl in a majority Hispanic / Latin neighborhood has its perks. One of them is the SPOTD of enjoying somebody's mariachi music blasting from their window on a warm late-spring afternoon. I don't speak Spanish or know much about mariachi, but it's so passionate, exciting, and dramatic that the songs that drifted through my window brought a smile to my face.
There are other types of music that I don't listen to often but find to be enjoyable on occasion, like:
- Super girly bubblegum pop that would normally make my ears bleed with its squeaky clean lyrics and life lesson subtext.
- Super twangy back-roots country songs about a life so simple I can't imagine how they stay sane.
- Super screamy death metal that could skin an animal with one sharp note out of frustration towards everybody and anything for no reason at all.
