Wind chimes have always had a special place in my heart. I didn't really like having them up when I lived in Nevada (constant noise because of constant wind brings down my happiness for wind chimes when I'm trying to SLEEP, Mother Nature!), but here in my little corner of the Bay Area it's just the right amount of breezy. My Simple Pleasure of the Day is
the sound of wind chimes because I have finally put mine up and the sound just makes me smile.
I've always associated wind chimes with:
 |
The kitty chimes are up and sounding pretty. |
- Craft festivals. There's always a booth that has 'em, whether they're made of sticks or stained glass or fancy metals or beads or whatever. The sounds that come from them as you're browsing through other booths is the soundtrack to these festivals for me, along with those wooden flute guys who are selling CD's of their music. (Seriously? Who buys that stuff outside of a Wal-Mart?)
- Artsy old ladies. You know the type: long flowing dresses with Birkenstocks, dreadlocks, nude paintings all over the house, and paint stains on everything. I'm sure painting is much more fun when there's the soothing sounds of the dozens of wind chimes hanging on their porches and backyards as a way to hear Mother Nature's colors in those winds.
- Wind... how else would they chime, am I right?
